We Love Yoga!

Do you practice yoga?  We do!!  We have learned about the many benefits of yoga including practicing our breathing, strength, balance, calmness and mindfulness.

We start with some mindful breathing!

We have tried lots of positions including: cat/cow, downward dog, dolphin, lion, stork, frog and several others.

 Downward facing dog

Cat and Cow

                                                                                       Frog

At the end of practice we do savasana (relaxed breathing and focus).

.
We would love to hear about your yoga experiences!

  1. Hello Mrs. Metz's class! We are the Goldstein Class from Arlington Heights, Illinois, United States of America. We liked reading your post about yoga and looking at your pictures. Your pictures really helped us understand the different yoga poses you were practicing. We don't have any yoga at our school. But, a few of us have done yoga taken classes or just tried it for fun at home. Our class voted and about half of us wish we had yoga here at Westgate. But, the other half like our P.E. activities they way they are. Do you have a favorite pose? Do you recommend we try yoga? What other P.E. activities do you do at your school? We are also curious, how often do you go to P.E.? We have P.E. twice a week! -Miss Goldstein's Class

    1. Thanks for your comments and questions. We do think you would like yoga if you try it! Let us know if you do! Most of us like the lion pose best because we get to roar at the end! We get P.E. 2 or 3 times a week. Our gym activities that we have done this year are: throwing and catching, building our endurance through running around the gym and the school, fit stations, accuracy with throws and kicks, balancing and games like line soccer, freeze tag and pin tag.
What do you do in your P.E. periods? What are your favourite P.E. activities?
We look forward to reading your reply and reading your posts on your blog.

  2. I have only tried yoga a couple of times. I have never seen most of those poses! I will have to have Graham show me how do them. Does anyone ever fall asleep during savasana? That was my favourite pose :) Graham's mom.

  3. Thank you for your comment. Some of us have felt like we are falling asleep during savasana, but didn't quite fall asleep. Did you ever fall asleep?

  4. Not many of us have tried yoga before. We have tried some of the yoga poses you showed in your pictures. Our experience is that the downward dog stretches your legs, and when you lay on the floor it makes you very calm. Thank you for the experience with yoga.
