On Friday we celebrated Chinese New Year at our school!
In our class we have read about traditional Chinese New Year celebrations.
We made Chinese Theatre masks by designing, drawing, coloring with pastels and adding some glitter. They are colorful and creative! Maybe you would like to try to make one!
Some of the families in our neighborhood came to help us celebrate. They made special dumplings for our lunch (which are always served at the New Year's dinner). They were delicious!
In the afternoon, we saw the Dragon Dance! It was amazing! The kindergarten students performed the Dragon Dance for us! There was drumming and one of our classmates, George, was the drummer!! He was fantastic!
There was also a Lion Dance performed by some of the grade 7 students.
Some of our talented students performed for us!
In our classroom, we read a story called 'The Seven Chinese Brothers'. It is a Chinese Fable which has a message. The brothers always help each other if one of them gets into trouble. There is a mean Emperor in the story too! It is a great story, you might like to read it!
Did you celebrate Chinese New Year? What did you do for your celebration?
